You can ignore the sign at the street for now. It’s about the only thing Grand Ole BBQ, Flinn Springs hasn’t breathed fresh life into at their new location while waiting for the ever so sense-of-urgency challenged minions of bureaucracy to give their royal assent to open.
Meanwhile, on some recent weekends, those in the know, of which you are now one, have enjoyed the softest of soft openings, allowing Pitmaster Andy Harris, Executive Chef Ami Cisneros, and crew to quietly, but earnestly, begin to please the earliest of what are certain to become throngs, perhaps legions, of convertees to Central Texas style BBQ.
A stroll through the revamped digs reveals a spot destined to become a destination for any, and the many, searching for the real deal ‘Q in the San Diego region. Aside from the collagen laced, almost magical meat from Andy’s smokers, the sides and steaks from Ami’s dexterous mind and fingers and the “something for everyone” indoor-outdoor space promises you a meal, seat and table to rejuvenate your travel-weary bones, making the journey a jaunt, rather than a chore. Enjoy, and Cheers, my friends!
